Shabir distributes cheques to 68 BPL families

RAJOURI, May 3: Minister of State for Power, CA & PD and Transport, Shabir Ahmed Khan today distributed cheques worth Rs 21 lakh among 68 below poverty line families of Thannamandi , Rajouri for construction of their dwelling units .He also announced construction of road for border village Neli .He said the construction work of this 5 kms road would be completed at a cost of Rs 4.23 crore during next financial year under Pradhan Mantary Gram Sadak Youjna.
The Minister, who was on extensive tour of Rajouri District visited villages of the area and took stock of people’s problems besides inspected pace of progress of several ongoing developmental projects .He was accompanied by a team of officers and Engineers.
The Minister addressed public meetings at village Neli and Thanamandi. He said the Government was abreast of people’s problems and developmental needs .He said to fulfill their aspirations the Government has taken exemplary and revolutionary steps, which revitalize the all round development of the State.
Mr Shabir said focused thrust was being given to upgrade road connectivity especially in remote and hilly areas, adding that better road connectivity is pre-requisite for economic development of such areas .He said providing improved basic amenities to the people is on top priority of the Government and pro-people policies initiated by the present Government has started yielding fruits at gross root level.
The Minister said to provide improved drinking water supply facility to the inhabitants of border area of Neli the construction work of water supply scheme would be completed at an estimated of Rs 1.64 crore during this fiscal , adding that so for  Rs 1.56 crore have been expended on the execution of this scheme .He said another water supply scheme would be constructed in the area at an estimated cost Rs 74 lakh and work on this scheme would be taken up soon after completing all codal formalities.
Mr Shabir said that more BPL families of the area would be provided financial assistance for building of their residential houses under IAY and Integrated Housing Slum Development Project Schemes.
