SRINAGAR, Oct 3: Taking serious note of the unpunctuality, indiscipline of the staff, poor sanitation facilities in District Hospital, Pulwama, the Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan during his surprise visit to the Hospital early this morning, issued orders for suspension of Resident Medical Officer, Dr Riyaz Ahmad and Staff Nurse, Sara. He also imposed fine of Rs 1000 to Causality Medical Officer and issued orders for seeking explanations from Chief Medical Officer, Pulwama and Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Pulwama.
The Minister directed Director Health Services, Kashmir to immediately visit the hospital and initiate inquiry against those officers and officials responsible for creating mismanagement, indiscipline and poor sanitation in the hospital, which effects proper delivery of healthcare facilities to the patients and asked that immediate steps should be taken for smooth functioning of the hospital at the earliest for convenience of the people of the area.
During the inspection Mr Shabir took stock of the functioning of the hospital, went round each section of the hospital and enquired welfare of the patients. He also received appraisal about the different health care facilities available in the hospital. He exhorted upon the employees of health institution to be punctual to their duties for patient care. “Any laxity in this regard is intolerable, officials or officers found negligent would be punished severely under rules “, he cautioned.
The Minister also inspected pace of progress of under execution Rs 25 crore IPD Complex and Rs 6.29 crore Emergency complex of the Hospital. He was apprised that so far Rs 4 crore have been expended on the construction of IPD Complex and Rs 4 crore on Emergency block. He directed the concerned executing agencies to accelerate the pace of work on both these projects for their time bound completion and directed Director Health Services to monitor the constructions and ensure that quality material is utilized in the projects for their durability.
