Shabir reviews functioning of D&FCO

JAMMU, Nov 23: Minister of State for Health (Independent Charge) Shabir Ahmad Khan has said that Rapt Alert System is being strengthened by putting in place into generated SMS through Baharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in case of the failure of a sample in its active imprudence.
This was stated by the Minister at a meeting of officers of the Drug and Food Control Organization (D&FCO), convened to discuss and review the overall functioning of the organization here today.
The Minister directed the concerned lab authorities to gear up their field functionaries and work with utmost dedication and achieve the targets in full. He also asked them to work in double shifts. He said that Government is formulating a Committee to draw up a formulary of Common Generic Drugs for the J&K Medical Supplies Corporation.
Threadbare discussion was also held on implementation of drug policy, expansion of labs, re-organization of the Corporation, filling up of vacant posts and modification of recruitment rules.
The Minister directed the D&FCO to implement the drug policy in letter and spirit. He  asked him to fill up vacant posts immediately and submit a proposal with regard to amendment of recruitment rules.
Regarding computerization of labs, the Minister directed the concerned to submit a Detailed Project Report (DPR) in this regard within a fortnight so that the same could be forwarded to the concerned quarter for early funding.
While discussing the expansion of labs, it was informed that a project of Rs.60 crore has been submitted to the Government of India for strengthening of labs both at Jammu as well as Srinagar.
It was informed in the meeting that 2531 samples of tests were done from April onwards till date.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Health and Medical Education Ganzaffer Hussain, Director, NRHM, Controller, D&FCO and other officers of the organization.
