KISHTWAR, Dec 10: The Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar, today visited the Tagood Panchayat to hold a public darbar there.
The MLA’s visit was aimed at addressing the grievances of the residents at their door step and reviewing the progress of ongoing developmental work in the area.
During the darbar, several issues were raised by the locals concerning various sectors, including education, infrastructure, land compensation, road, public utilities and others.
Lachman Das, ex-Sarpanch, delivered the welcome address and provided a brief overview of the entire Panchayat and the issues faced by the locals.
The BDO provided a detailed update on the ongoing projects in the Panchayat.
Concerns were voiced about the condition of local schools and the lack of sufficient resources for the students. Locals highlighted the need for improved roads and the clearance of bottlenecks obstructing road construction at different places.
The issues on the road from Prajpalam to Manzgam were redressed on spot with the intervention of MLA in consultation with concerned Departments.
The AEE of R&B provided an update on progress of roads and was given a one-month deadline by the MLA to ensure timely completion.
Issues related to the clearance of NOCs for building construction and pending land compensation were also raised during the darbar.
The MLA Kishtwar facilitated the allotment of land for the construction of the school building for MS Hia during the camp.
Locals raised concern about the inadequate water supply system in some villages.
Responding to the issue, necessary directions were forwarded to the concerned departmental heads to solve the issue.
Issues regarding power poles were highlighted, with several poles still fixed on trees. The AE, PDD assured that a requirement for new poles has been submitted and will be addressed soon. Demands for additional transformers and concerns about staff shortages in schools were also raised. Locals also raised concerns about the shortage of Chakki flour in the area.
The MLA gave on-the-spot directions to the concerned line departments to address the grievances promptly.
The MLA assured the residents that all pending demands will be addressed in a time-bound manner, with regular monitoring. She also directed the Tehsildar to organize a revenue camp in the Panchayat within the month to address land-related concerns.
