Shah asks BJP to act tough

JAMMU, Mar 10: Showing its total displeasure over the release of separatist leader, Masrat Alam by the State Government led by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, BJP national president, Amit Shah today summoned the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, Health and Medical Education Minister, Ch. Lal Singh, Party State president and MP, Jugal Kishore Sharma to Union Capital to have a detailed report on the controversial release of master mind of 2010 stone pelting in Kashmir Valley.
According to sources, BJP leaders from the State met Mr Shah at his residence and he sought a detailed report from them on the issue. Besides, Mr Shah the meeting was attended by BJP national general secretary and Party’s chief negotiator with PDP for Government formation in the State, Ram Madhav.
Talking to Excelsior, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that during the meeting Party discussed strategy to be adopted for future in running the coalition in the State.
He said Mr Shah made it clear to the State leadership that no wrong message should go into the public across the country about the functioning of the coalition in the State as this can lead to confusion.
He also asked the BJP leaders from the State that coalition has to work in the larger national interests and promote nationalism in the State to which his Party is committed, Jugal added.
Sources said that Mr Shah has asked the Ministers in the State to act tough on such issues and not to allow any such thing to happen in future which can raise fingers on the functioning of BJP.
He asked the BJP Ministers not to mellow down on such issues in future and ensure that any such thing will not happen again as the same will affect the smooth functioning of the coalition.
Sources said Nirmal Singh informed Mr Shah about Party’s State unit’s stand on the controversial release of separatist leader and the memorandum which was handed over by the Party Legislators to Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed yesterday.
Sources said during the meeting Dr Singh told Mr Shah that he and other State BJP leaders had raised strong objections to Alam’s release, the decision regarding which was taken unilaterally by ally PDP and regarding the same no discussions were held with BJP.
Dr Singh also informed Mr Shah that BJP has conveyed the Chief Minister that in future no such decision should be taken without consultation of his Party.
