NEW DELHI: A shocked BJP leadership on Thursday began an important meeting of its key leaders to take stock of the factors those contributed to its decimation in Chhattisgarh and on how the saffron party strategists could not help retain power in two other other crucial Hindi heartland states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
“BJP national president Amit Shahji will review the election results. All issues will be discussed in details,” a party source said here. “We are only as strong as we are united.
Together we are building ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’. Come lets join and strengthen our hands in the mission,” went a missive from party’s official Twitter handler.
BJP chief Mr Shah and other national office bearers began at their meeting at party headquarters. The saffron party was voted out of power in Rajasthan, where it has returned to office in 2013.
The saffron party’s bitter rivals snatched power from it in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh ending BJP’s 15 year continuous rule. On December 11 within hours after party’s first major electoral defeat since 2015 in Delhi and Bihar; Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself took to the micro blogging site and said his party accepts the mandate in “humility”.
