JAMMU, Nov 6: In view of preoccupation of members of Central Election Committee (CEC) of BJP, the Party National president, Amit Shah has been entrusted by the party to decide the names of remaining 38 candidates for J&K Assembly elections.
According to highly placed sources in the Party, the BJP High Command has entrusted Mr Shah the responsibility to clear the remaining names of 38 candidates for the J&K out of the penal submitted by the State leadership in view of the preoccupation of the members of the CEC.
Party sources said that the penal has been already submitted to Central Election Committee by State leadership and Mr Shah is also being given the feed back on daily basis. Besides Party general secretary J P Nadda who is incharge of J&K and another general secretary Ram Madhav are also well versed of the State affairs hence they can also guide Mr Shah in this regard, sources added.
Out of 87 seats, BJP Central Election Committee announced the first list of 45 candidates on November 2 which was followed by announcement of the second list of four candidates by November 4.
Among the 49 seats announced by the Party so far 32 are from Jammu region and remaining are from Kashmir Valley. The BJP has already declared the list of the candidates from those constituencies in the State which are its strong hold and where from it is hopeful of showing a good performance during the elections. However, on remaining five seats of Jammu region including Nagrota, Gandhi Nagar, reserve seat of Samba, Billawar and Darhal the candidates will be declared within days, sources said.
Sources said BJP National Executive member, Dr Nirmal Singh who showed his reluctance to contest either from Nagrota or Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituencies will be fielded from Billawar Constituency as Party High Command has given an indication to him in this regard also.
Meanwhile many candidates are in race for Gandhi Nagar and Nagrota Constituencies who include senior leaders Chander Mohan Sharma, Ramesh Arora, Kavinder Gupta, Vikram Randhawa, Aseem Gupta and Indu Bushan.
For the reserve Samba Constituency the party is likely to consider the candidature of Dr Vyas whose resignation has not been accepted by the Government yet while for Darhal Assembly segment in Rajouri district, the Party is likely to field Puran Singh a former Minister, sources added.
Sources said Ajat Shatru Singh, NC senior leader and son of former Sadar-e-Riyasat Dr Karan Singh, is joining BJP on November 9 at New Delhi in presence of senior Party leaders while former Mayor and president Jat Sabha, Manmohan Choudhary, Refugee Sadar Sabha president Pawan Sharma etc are joining BJP at Jammu tomorrow.
