Officials of Disaster Management Department from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are also scheduled to attend tomorrow’s meeting.
The ‘Chintan Shivir’ with CAPFs and NSG also covered situation in Jammu and Kashmir and upcoming annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji as large number of CAPF companies have been deployed in the UT and more will come for the yatra.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been deployed in large strength for carrying out anti-militancy operations along with Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and Army.
Among additional paramilitary forces scheduled to reach Jammu and Kashmir in next few days for Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrimage, majority will be from the CRPF followed by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Paramilitary forces are also playing major role to tackle Left wing extremism. They have also been deployed in good numbers to control violence in Manipur which flared up recently.
As far as the Border Security Force (BSF) is concerned, it mans the International Border (IB) with Pakistan in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts in Jammu region besides Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat etc.
Most of the infiltration attempts by the militants along the International Border (IB) have been foiled. However, drone activities remained a challenge in Jammu as well as Punjab where the militants and the Pakistani Rangers are trying to use drone machines to send arms, ammunition, explosives and narcotics to this side.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla will also attend the day-long meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Considering challenges before India in disaster management, the meeting is learnt to focus on preparedness to deal with the human, material, economic or environmental impacts challenges.
The meeting is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s holistic approach to preparing for disaster management to make it relief-centric, early warning-centric, proactive and early preparedness-based in order to respond to and learn from the effects of major failures.
