NAGPUR, Mar 6:
BJP President Amit Shah who is on a day-long visit to the city, is holding discussions with top leadership of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) here at the headquarters in Mahal.
Shah, who arrived here this morning was greeted by city-based leaders at Ravi Bhawan Cottage and was joined by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, General Secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi along with Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Sancheti were with Shah in the meeting, official sources said.
This is Shah’s second visit to the city after assuming the top post.
The meeting between Shah and RSS top leaders has assumed significance in the wake of the recent BJP-PDP government formation headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Jammu and Kashmir and also due to the controversial remarks made by him after the swearing-in ceremony in which Sayeed credited terror groups and Pakistan for peaceful elections in the state.
Though the government has distanced itself from Mufti’s remarks, bickering is on in the party, sources close to RSS said.
Shah is likely to discuss the Land Bill too which is yet to face Rajya Sabha and may fall due to lack of BJP majority in the Upper House.
He is also scheduled to meet party office bearers in the evening before returning to Delhi. (PTI)
