BANIHAL, Aug 28: National Conference leader and District president Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen today conducted extensive tour of remote villages including Sarachi, Kuthji, Hargam and Khari of Banihal Constituency and took stock of the problems faced by the villagers, here today.
He met scores of people and also interacted with party workers during the day-long tour. The locals apprised him about the dilapidated condition of Banihal- Mangit road, erratic power supply in far-off areas besides lack of health care facilities in the villages.
While launching Party membership drive for the year 2020-21 in village Kuthji, Shaheen urged the workers to take the party agenda to every household and strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
The people also complained about scarcity of drinking water in several villages in the area and demanded construction of an all weather Bawa to Magit road that will connect the majority population living in these villages throughout the year.
Expressing grave concern over the inability of the local Administration in clearing the bottlenecks on construction of Bawa-Mangit road and Seeran-Sarachi road, the NC leader urged the R&B Department to take up the construction work immediately.
Shaheen also drew the attention of the LG led Administration towards deficiencies in education, power and health sectors and sought immediate filling up of vacant posts.
Later, he also went to village Sarachi, where a local teacher Mohammad Iqbal Naik had died in a tragic road accident during the DDC election and consoled the bereaved family.
He was accompanied by Block level leaders including Mohamed Ashraf Naik, Abdul Gani Wani, Mohammad Rafique Naik, Mohamed Anwar Naik, Abdul Rahman Dar, Jabar Ahmed Mir, Mohammad Ibrahim and Imtiyaz Ahmed during the tour.
