BANIHAL, Jan 23: National Conference district president Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen today visited snow-hit areas of the Banihal constituency and expressed concern over continued blockade of various major link roads due to heavy snowfall.
During his tour to some areas, various delegations apprised the district president of their problems, complaining that while the power supply is completely erratic in most of the areas, the drinking water supply too has been affected. This has aggravated the problems of the people, he added.
He particularly made a reference of major link roads like Thachi -Amkoot, Khari-Trigam, Mahu-Mangit, Batoo-Neel, Pogal- Maligam–Panchal, Allinbas, Senabati, Chanjloo, Hijhal, Chaknarwa, Lamber and Zaban and said the areas along these remain land-locked due to administrative inertia.
He also visited Darshipora, Chareel, Tethar and Nowgam. Earlier in the day, Shaheen led deputation met the Sub Divisional Magistrate Banihal , Tehsildar Banihal and AEE PDD and apprised the officers about the problems being faced by the people and sought immediate restoration work in the snow-bound areas and availability of essentials.
