BANIHAL, July 2: Expressing serious concern over frequent loss of lives on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, National Conference leader and district president, Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen today demanded road safety audit of Ramban -Banihal stretch of NH.
He said that miserable condition of the NH has turned the 300-km long road into a virtual death trap as the roads across the region have become deadly and every alternate day people are shocked to learn about deaths on maddening roads.
He further said that the mismanagement and lack of coordination among the Traffic Police posted all along the NH is one of the factors responsible for the present mess on the NH while the faulty execution of the highway widening between Banihal and Ramban is main reason for the frequent highway blockade.
