UDHAMPUR, Jan 27: All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation, under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh, Udhampur unit, celebrated Kartavya Vodh Divas Karyakaram, in which the teachers, eminent educationists and citizens participated.
Dr Yogeshwar Gupta, president Municipal Council Udhampur , Maheshwar Prasad, vice president Shaikshik Mahasangh J&K and Renu Sharma, Principal BVM High School Udhampur, were the chief guest, key speaker and special guests, respectively on the occasion .
Pertinent to mention that Shaikshik Mahasangh celebrates Kartavya Vodh Divas programme in January between the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subash Chander Bose, all over the country every year .
Maheshwar Prasad informed that main purpose to celebrate Kartavya Bodh Divas karyakaram is not only to aware the teachers but also to aware the whole society about our duties and responsibilities towards the students, education, society and nation.
Dr Yogeshwar Gupta, in his address, said that we as respectable and responsible persons of society, should work with full dedication, honesty, sincerity, zeal and enthusiasm. “This is the main motive behind the celebration of Kartavya Bodh Divas programme,” he said adding that the Shaikshik Mahasangh is the only organisation in the country which is conducting different types of programmes for awareness, motivation and inspiration of the teachers and society. He said that we should be very honestly start from ourselves as an individual level.
Renu Sharma, Principal BVM High School Udhampur, who was special guest on the occasion, said that the level and standard of education degraded during the British rule and even after Independence, no sincere steps were taken by the Governments to correct the things. “The politicians and bureaucrats consider teachers as a machine and depute them in various others non teaching jobs . Teachers are not involved in framing of the syllabus, textbooks . There is no transparent and fair transfer policy and all these things lead to demoralize the teaching fraternity,” she explained .
