JAMMU, Apr 14: A public lecture on Kashmir Shaivdarshan was organised at Barnai by Abhinavgupt Shaktiveers in collaboration with Durga Nag Trust here, today.
Sanjay Raina, a well known scholar of Shastras was the main speaker who dwelt at length on the contribution of great Shivacharyas of Kashmir right from Vasavgupta to Swami Lakshman Joo.
He said Shaivdarshan of Kashmir is richest philosophy and it has given a unique name to Kashmir as well. He regretted that during the rule of outsiders and invaders this rich philosophy suffered a lot and went in oblivion.
Raina however gave credit to great Shivacharya of Kashmir, Swami Ram Ji Maharaja for reviving this philosophy during the rule of Maharaja Partap Singh. He said Maharaja on the request of Swami Ji provided all logistic, moral and other support and help in revival of this ancient philosophy.
Raina said Kashmiri Pandits being aborigines of Valley will remain indebted to both Swami Ji and Maharaja for this great work. Had Swami Ji not taken the initiative and Maharaja Partap Singh rendered support to him, this richest philosophy and thought would have become dormant or gone in oblivion.
Raina also recalled the contribution of Mata Roop Bhawani whom he described as the incarnation of Goddess Shakti. He said Mata Roop Bhawani was a divine soul who was on highest pedestal of spirituality and rejected the narrative being set that she was a poetess. He also recalled the contributions of Swami Mehtab Kak, Vidhya Dhar, Swami Govind Koul and other scholars during the 20th century.
