Sham asks Cong workers to highlight developmental initiatives before people

AKHNOOR, Nov 3:  As the Congress Party stepped up its election campaign in Akhnoor constituency, local MLA and Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today asked people to highlight the programmes and policies of Congress party as well as developmental initiatives taken by him before the masses to seek their support in the elections.
Addressing largely attended public meetings at Akhnoor and other areas, he said the works executed on ground speak themselves, but these need to be highlighted and discussed with the masses so that they can make their choice while exercising their right to franchise. He said during the past over one decade, he has made his best efforts to make the Akhnoor as best constituency in the State and up to large extent he succeeded in this direction.
Sham Lal said that massive development has been registered in all vital sectors and infrastructural facilities in essential services adequately upgraded in the constituency. The people are best judges who can make a difference of change on ground between the successive representatives in the constituency, he said adding that it was his endeavor to eradicate poverty from the constituency and make it a better place to live for all communities with pride and dignity.
Maintaining that then UPA Government in the Centre supported the Jammu and Kashmir overwhelmingly during the past one decade, the Minister said that it provided free flow of funds to undertake holistic development in all sectors.  UPA leadership took personal interest in the development of the State to ensure prosperity and progress of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, he said and added that Congress party always worked for the upliftment of poor and weaker sections of the society.  He asked the people to become partner in the development process and ensure landslide victory of Congress party in the State Assembly elections.
Several prominent citizens, local Congress leaders, Sarpanchs and Panchs also accompanied the Minister.
