JAMMU, May 10: Minister for PHE, Irrigation, Flood and Control, Sham Lal Sharma today said that Government is committed to ensure better road connectivity, transport facilities and comfort to the commuter travelling from one part of the State to other.
The Minister was interacting with the member of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who called on him and apprised of various problems being faced by the people especially tourists due to shifting of Jammu General Bus stand to Khanpur Nagrota and Transport Nagar Narwal which is also hampering the business of the traders.
He said that every step will be taken to address the grievances of the people, however, the Government will also do its best to bring improvement in the present status of transport scenario in the State. He said that several measures have been taken to replace old fleet of buses by new one and roads are also being widened and reconstructed to facilitate the commuters.
Sham said that the Government is according focused attention to expand an improved road network in every part of the state besides ensuring enhanced basic services in view of its historical background and famous tourist especially pilgrimage. He said more than one crore pilgrims and tourists visit Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji Shrine, Kashmir, Ladakh and other tourist spots especially during Shri Amarnath Yatra, Navratras and other important religious occasions.
He appealed the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to extend their full support to Government for upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra and assured that all their issues will be looked into. He also assured that the issue of general bus stand will be taken up with the concerned authorities at the earliest.
Among others District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Y P Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, SE PHE and all associations of traders were also present in the meeting. Y P Sharma and Arjun Gupta strongly projected the issues of the traders.
