JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today convened a meeting to discuss the formulation of roadmap for awareness activities to be conducted by the Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) of Department of PHE, I&FC in the State.
While addressing the meeting, the Minister said that the awareness programmes conducted by the department should be result-oriented and common masses should get optimum benefit of these camps at ground level.
The Minister directed the officers to prepare a comprehensive plan to conduct awareness programmes at state level, district level, constituency level, Gram Sabha level, besides conducting circle-wise advocacy workshops and awareness camps in every part of the State.
He said the senior citizens, intellectuals, students, Non-Government Organisations, experts and government officials should be engaged in the workshops so that fruitful results can be generated.
It was informed in the meeting that through these awareness programmes, the people would be informed about benefits of saving water, rainwater harvesting and other issues regarding water, sanitation and hygiene, besides educating them about drinking water treatment methods.
The Minster further said the objective of the department is to provide clean drinking water to the people of the State and no stone should be left unturned in achieving this objective. “The officers should always remain on their toes to address the problems of the people related to water supply and irrigation facilities,” he stressed.
Secretary, PHE, I&FC Department Sanjeev Verma, Chief Engineer, PHE Sushil Aima, Executive Director CCDU Rajeev Malhotra and other officers of the department were present in the meeting.
