JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today reviewed desilting and repair works of irrigation canals and khuls and progress on various projects under Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) sectors here at a high level meeting.
The Minister took detailed appraisal of the ongoing works, development projects and the de-silting work on Ranbir Canal, Ravi Tawi Irrigation Canal (RTIC) and other Canals of Jammu Division to ensure discharge of water to the tail end.
He directed the officers of the concerned departments to work in tandem and ensure completion of the desilting and repairing works in a time bound manner.
Sham Choudhary instructed the officers to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing projects and complete the same within shortest possible time. He also instructed to regularize all drinking water supply connections and repair all defunct tube wells in Jammu province.
Directing the senior functionaries to personally monitor the ongoing works, the Minister asked to fast track repair and renovation of damaged canals to avoid inconvenience to farmers during the current season. He also exhorted upon the officers to redouble their efforts and work for the betterment of the people, adding that any laxity in this regard would not be tolerated.
Besides, senior functionaries, the meeting were attended by SEs and XEns.
