JAMMU, Dec 9: The atmosphere was at best when Urdu ghazals of noted poet Pritpal Singh Betab were sung by renowned singer Sham Sajan and his disciples namely Gursharn Kour, Rabot Singh and Sargam Pant at K L Saigal Hall under the banner of Indian Cultural Forum, Jammu.
D C Raina, Advocate, presided over the event and in his address said, “Such programmes are the need of the time and also laid emphasis that these should be orgainsed on regular basis to keep the tradition of ghazals continue to enrich and promote literature and music as well.
Khalid Bashir, sectretary, J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages was the chief guest on the occasion. He appreciated the contribution of Sham Sajan in the field of music.
Sham Sajan, president Indian Cultural Forum, emphasized that these programme are to be organized at wider prospects so as to save the Indian and State music heritage. Ravinder Koul conducted the proceeding of the programme in unique way.
A large number of members of civil society, artists and literary fraternity besides Prof Lalit Magtra, Jatinder Udhampuri, Pardhuman Singh, Savita Bakshi, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Language witnessed the programme.
