JAMMU, May 3: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, today inaugurated a tubewell at Jadh Sardaran tehsil Akhnoor constructed under augmentation of WSS Bhalwal Brahmana with a cost of Rs. 85 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Sham said that with the commissioning of this tubewell the people of Jadh Sardaran, Mohalla Malley and Tibbi will get adequate water supply.
Highlighting the importance of having better drinking water and irrigation facilities, the Minister called for an effective water management in the State in view of its agricultural significance.
Sham directed the concerned departments to work in close co-ordination to provide adequate drinking water and irrigation facilities to the people particularly in Kandi areas especially during summer months. He emphasized the need of involvement of Panchs, Sarpanchs and common public in revival and maintenance of old water reservoirs saying that stress should be laid on better upkeep of ponds and traditional water resources. He also announced development of two traditional water ponds at Jadh Panchayat under PHE and MGNERGA.
The Minister said that Government is committed to further empower the PRIs as also to expand the ambit of their functioning. The Government has already assigned them the important supervisory role for some important Government departments for improving the efficiency in the Government functioning enabling the people to get services in a time bound manner.
The Minister directed the administration to ensure regular review of all ongoing development projects in Akhnoor block for their timely and quality completion.
The demands presented by local Sarpanch and other representatives of the area included improvement of link roads, upgradation of Jadh Primary School upto middle school, Primary Health Centre, blacktopping of inner roads of the areas etc.
The Minister assured them that all their genuine demands will be looked into for an early redressal.
Among others, SE, PHE Jammu, Executive Engineer of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, all sectoral officers, Panchs and Sarpanchs of the area present on the occasion.
