Sham inaugurates passenger shed at Akhnoor

JAMMU, Dec 25: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today inaugurated passenger shed at Akhnoor constructed at a cost of Rs 9.5 lakh.
Member Parliament (MP) Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Akhnoor, Rajeev Sharma, MLA Khour Dr. Krishan Lal Bhagat were also present on the occasion.
The passenger shed constructed out of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has essential public utilities including public toilets. Two water coolers have also been installed for the convenience of people.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Union Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Coalition Government in State have launched several schemes for the development and welfare of people, with a vision to reach-out to every person of the State, with special focus on far flung and rural ambits.
He asked administration,  community representatives and prominent citizens to work in tandem and sensitize people about these schemes so that the real beneficiary is able to take benefits from these schemes.
The Minister said the Government has been working consistently to regularize the Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) working in different departments and to enhance their honourarium. In this regard, certain success has been achieved.
Referring to provision of adequate water supply in the area, the Minister said that tube wells at various places have been installed and multiple non operational Water Supply Schemes have been made functional. He said that the Government is mulling to install more tube wells to ensure adequate water supply to people of the area.
Highlighting the developmental initiatives taken by the Government in Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the work on Jammu-Akhnoor-Poonch 4-lanning would be started soon for which Rs 5100 crore have earmarked. The work on bridge over river Chenab to connect Pargwal area is also scheduled to start in the near future, he added.
MLAs Dr. Krishan  Lal and Rajeev Sharma also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements registered under various sectors in their respective Assembly Constituencies.
Later, Sham Choudhary attended Gowgopal Mahayagya at Suhanjana. He participated in Puranahuti and prayed for peace and prosperity of people of the State.
