JAMMU, June 14: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, today inaugurated a tubewell at Tawa in Raipur Domana area of Bhalwal Block constructed with a cost of Rs. 162.40 lakh by Public Health Engineering Department under NRDWP.
Chief Engineer PHE Sushil Aima, other concerned engineers besides Sarpanchs, Panchs and a large number of people were also present on the inaugural function.
The tubewell equipped with all high-tech and automatic equipments has capacity of 7000 GLNS per hours.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Government is highly concerned about the scarcity of water in kandi areas of the state and for the purpose large number of schemes have been taken up to provide and augment potable water facilities in water stressed areas. He said that with the inauguration of this tubewell, the long pending demand of the people of the area has been fulfilled, adding that thousands of souls of Tawa and adjoining villages will be benefitted with adequate drinking water facilities.
The Government has initiated various development projects including construction of roads and bridges, educational and health institutions, electricity and safe drinking water supply projects to provide all basic facilities to the people at their doorsteps, he added.
He called upon the people to cooperate with executing agencies for implementation of Government development schemes for their own betterment besides keeping a close monitoring of the development projects being executed in their respective area.
The Minister said that the Coalition Government has been making concerted efforts to develop sustainable basic infrastructure in the rural areas at par with the urban areas under a well-knit programme.
