Sham inspects Material & Procurement Sub-Division, Water Testing Lab

SRINAGAR, May 9: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma today conducted surprise inspection to Material and Procurement (M&P) Sub Division, Zainakote and took stock of the stock position of material available in the Sub Division. He also inspected Water Testing Lab (WTL) at Zainakote and enquired about the functioning and facilities available in the lab.
The Minister directed the Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir to shift the Divisional Office M&P, Jawahir Nagar to Zainakote immediately so that its proper functioning is ensured.
While checking the records, the Minister directed the concerned to maintain records of stock register, cashbook, challan and other related documents properly as per the set procedure so that the transparency and accountability in the system and judicious use of funds is ensured.
The Minister also directed the concerned authorities to maintain register of incidental charges and gate passes and ensure conduct of regular verification of quality and quantity of materials. He directed for auction of old unserviceable stock and condemned vehicles which have occupied the space in the premises of the store unnecessarily.
The Minister directed the Chief Engineer PHE to speed up the pace of construction work on the building under execution for housing the Sub Division Office, M&P, in the store premises and complete it in a time bound manner.
At Water Testing Lab (WTL) HMT, Zainakote, the Minister directed the concerned to maintain cleanliness in and around the lab.
Earlier, a deputation from Anantnag district headed by General Secretary, District Congress Committee Hilal Ahmad Shah, met the Minister and apprised him about the developmental needs of the district.
Interacting with the deputation, the Minister said that the Coalition Government has taken numerous reformative and bold initiatives for revitalization of all round development of all the three regions of the State, with special focus on upliftment of weaker sections of the society.
