JAMMU, Mar 17: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today visited Katra and took stock of the functioning of PHE Department to ensure regular water supply in the town in view of the Navratra festival which is being commenced from March 18.
Chairing a meeting of officers of the department, the Minister highlighted the importance of Katra town and said that pilgrims across the country arrive here to pay obeisance at Holy Cave of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine especially during Navratras. He said that every arrangement should be put in place so that pilgrims and people of the town should not face any inconvenience on account of water supply.
Directing the concerned for keeping machinery stand-by at WSS to meet any exigency, he also asked them for rationalization of manpower. He directed the concerned for revival of defunct schemes particularly Water Supply scheme Jhajjar Kotli within two months so the existing capacity of water supply is augmented and people get adequate potable water during the summer season. He also reviewed functioning of Water Supply schemes of Shiv Khori area.
Inspecting the Water Supply Scheme Katra Town Stage-I, the Minister directed the concerned for keeping the premises of WSS neat and clean and maintain hygienic environ in and around the Schemes.
The Minister was informed that except one Water Supply Schemes, all Schemes and tube wells of the area are functional.
