Sham lays foundation of Urban Health Center

SRINAGAR, May 17: Minister for Health & Family Welfare Sham Lal Sharma today laid foundation stone of Rs.20.30 crore Urban Health Center at Chanapora. This 30-bedded hospital would be constructed by the J&K Housing Board in a time bound manner.
Minister of State for Home, Housing & Urban Development Nasir Aslam Wani, Minister of State for Health, R&B and Agriculture Javed Ahmed Dar, Member Legislative Council Dharamveer Singh Oberoi, Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Director Health Services, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Project Director J&K State AIDS Control & Prevention Society, Dr. Rakesh Khajuria, Director Family Welfare, Dr. T.K.Moza, senior officers of J&K Housing Board, prominent citizens and several political leaders and workers of different parties were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal Sharma said that Coalition Government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was committed to provide better basic amenities to the people across the State. He said during the past over three and half years, the State has witnessed massive development in all vital sectors, including health, education and road communication and the change has been duly acknowledged by the common masses on ground.
He sought people’s support for overall development of the State, adding that peace is must for sustainable development and it is desired that people must cooperate in maintaining congenial atmosphere to ensure prosperity. He said that State particularly the Valley has witnessed the worse period of turmoil in past and it is time for introspection and compensation of loss suffered during this period. He said ‘we all should work hard to consolidate the basic infrastructure, which was damaged in recent years’.
The Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani with the construction of this hospital the people of the area will be able to get the health facilities at their doorsteps. He said that all efforts will be made to ensure all type of diagnostic facilities under one roof.
While highlighting the achievements of the Coalition Government, the Minister said that during the past three years the focused attention was given to upgrade the basic infrastructure in all sectors and to provide improved facilities to the people. He said main thrust remained on health, education, road connectivity, electricity and public health engineering. He said Central Government has given liberal funding to upgrade the infrastructure and work on several important projects in Srinagar city is in full swing. He asked people to cooperate with the administration for speedy completion of projects.
