JAMMU, July 23: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma laid the foundation stone of Model village Daskal in Akhnoor block here today.
The Model village project envisaging development of modern civic amenities and other facilities, would involve an estimated cost of Rs 1.78 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that motive of developing the village as model village is to improve the socio-economic condition of the locals through development of social infrastructure and ensure need based development in the area.
He said the Model village project aims at improving living conditions in the remote and backward areas by creating civic infrastructure on modern lines like provision for Solar lights, black-topping of existing roads, construction of community halls, passenger shed, rural community sanitary complex, children parks, upgradation of lanes and drains, installation of high mast lights, community ponds and other allied works besides making available facilities required for promotion of local economy and employment.
Assuring the people of all round development of far flung and border areas, the Minister said that the Government is committed for inclusive development and to take the development revolution into every nook and corner of the State.
Chief Engineer PHE Sushil Aima, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, ACD Jammu K. K. Sidha, BDO Akhnoor Deepak Dubey, panchs-sarpanchs besides large number of locals were present on the occasion.
