JAMMU, July 20: As a part of initiative to improve work culture and ensure close monitoring of the working of the Government Departments, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, today paid a surprise visit to Sitlee Filtration Plant at Nagrota and inspected the functioning of the premier installation for supply drinking water to the city of Jammu.
The Minister inspected the Filtration Plants, Intake Units and water testing laboratory. Chief Engineer PHE, K. K. Gupta also accompanied the Minister. The Chief Engineer informed the Minister about the capacity of filtration plants and said that it supplies 1.60 crore MLD clean potable drinking water per day.
The Minister issued directions to the concerned engineers to take preventive measures for safeguarding the plant from the flood waters. He also directed for regular test checks of water in the laboratory to ensure safe drinking water to the people. He also directed to update the store inventories and proper upkeep of filtration plants.
The Minister also visited the office complex and took strong notice on the absence of some officials/officers. He said every head of the institutions will be accountable for the functioning of their establishments and they have to maintain the transparency and efficiency in the overall functioning. He asked the officers and officials to change their attitude and ensure work culture and maintain punctuality in the office.
