JAMMU, July 12: Minister for Health, Horticulture and Agriculture, Sham Lal Sharma today reviewed the process initiated by the district administration Jammu to assess the losses caused in Akhnoor tehsil during massive wind storm that hit the area on July 4 last.
Chairing a meeting attended by District Development Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma, Superintendent Engineer Irrigation K. K. Gupta, SE PDD Gurcharan Singh, BDO Akhnoor Hitesh Gupta, Tehsildar Akhnoor Vijay Sharma, senior officers of various departments, the Minister sought the details about the survey conducted by the Revenue Department to assess the damages to the houses, orchards, PDD, PHE and irrigation infrastructure.
The Minister directed the concerned functionaries to take immediate measures for restoration of power, water and roads whereever these are yet to be restored. He also asked the officers to extend every type of assistance to the affected families.
The DDC informed the Minister that the directions have been issued to Block Development Officer to compensate the damage to the Kucha houses through Indra Avas Yujna with due consultation of Panchayat Representatives. He also said that restoration of roads, power, water and other supplies have already been done as men and machinery has been geared up in the affected areas.
The DCC also listed the villages that suffered major damages, including Dhok Khalsa, Rajwal, Jude Chak and Jourian.
