Sham reviews status of PHE, I&FC schemes

JAMMU, May 31:  Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today reviewed status of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control schemes taken up in Jammu region at a meeting of senior functionaries of the twin departments.
The Minister also took detailed review of the achievements under revenue collection targets, achievements on the ongoing projects during 2013-14, release of electricity charges to PDD, besides reply to draft paras of audit inspection and provision of   safe drinking water in educational institutions.
The meeting had a detailed discussion on various aspects  and the Minister was briefed about the action taken with regard to providing drinking water facilities to uncovered educational institutions, functioning of village level water sanitation committees,  multi village schemes, revenue collection, metering of commercial establishments, installation of energy meters at PHE and Irrigation installations, pending  wages of casual level works, total strength of casual   workers, works taken up for the revival of traditional water bodies and ponds, water quality testing at PHE stations, and functioning of communication and capacity development unit.
The Minister also reviewed the status of Drinking Water Supply Schemes, besides Kathua Canal, under irrigation sector.
Commissioner/Secretary, PHE, I&FC, Dr Pawan Kotwal also emphasized on the need of making extra efforts to achieve targets under the two vital departments.
