JAMMU, Apr 29: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) XI trounced Bagh-e-Bahu Cricket Club by 28 runs and entered the quarterfinals of the ongoing Rajiv Gandhi Memorial T20 Cricket Cup, being organized by Young Star Cricket Club at MA Stadium, here.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, JKP XI scored a good total of 147 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Skipper Rajesh Gill top scored with 42-ball 50 runs including 5 fours, while Naresh and Naushad contributed 29 runs each to the total and Amit Sharma chipped in 17 runs.
Aman was the wrecker-in-chief for Bagh-e-Bahu XI, who took 4 wickets by conceding 26 runs in his 4 overs, while Ashu, Vicky and Rocky claimed one wicket apiece.
Bagh-e-Bahu Club, in reply bundled out for 128 runs in 19.2 overs, thus lost the match by 19 runs. Rocky (19), Tony (17) and Arun (15) were the main contributors.
For JKP XI, Shamsher Singh Manhas scalped 3 important wickets by giving away 14 runs in his 3.2 overs, while Rajesh Gill and Nitu bagged 2 wickets each. Naushad and Sunil also claimed one wicket each. For smashing power-packed half-century and claiming 2 wickets, Rajesh Gill of JKP XI was adjudged man of the match.
The match was officiated by Rajinder Singh and Vijay as umpires and Sohail maintained the scorebook, while the tournament is being held under the supervision of Ankush Abrol, Rajesh Dhar, Vikram Singh and Shashi Pal, organizing secretary.
