London, Aug 31 : Grant Shapps, who until now served as the energy secretary of the United Kingdom, has been appointed as the defense secretary, the prime minister’s office said on Thursday.
“The Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP has been appointed Secretary of State for Defense,” the office wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Earlier in the day, UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace has sent a resignation letter to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak after four years in office.
