Sharda in PoK features in National Monuments Authority exhibition

JAMMU, Sept 18: National Monuments Authority on the eve of PM’s Birthday, organized an exhibition depicting unique photos and pictures of erstwhile J&K in New Delhi. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Jitendra Singh, MoS PMO and Prahlad Singh Patel, MoS Culture & Tourism. Other prominent present were Tarun Vijay Chairman of National Monuments Authority, Ravinder Pandita , Head of Save Sharda Committee and members of the authority.
The Exhibition depicted unique pictures and list of religious places in PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan region. Dr, Jitendra Singh highlighted the importance of such unique monuments that need to be preserved. Speaking to the press on this occasion Ravinder Pandita Head of Save Sharda Committee Kashmir emphasized the need of preservation of Sharda Peeth as a monument as well as civilization. He also honoured Prahlad Singh Patel MoS Culture & Tourism with the Sharda Shawl and presented the pious soil got from Peeth in PoK. Other prominent members included Mahinder Mehta of PoJK Front and Sherine Fatima Balti , renowned singer from Baltistan in Ladakh. The Committee has come into prominence after getting flowers laid at Sharda Peeth in PoK in 2006. Later in March’ 2007 through the Civil Society of POK a photo of Sharda Mai was installed there in the temple and in January this year, the committee secured a landmark judgement on the preservation of Sharda Peeth by Supreme Court of PoK.
