JAMMU, Feb 17: The Murti of Mata Sharda brought from Shringeri , Karnataka on way to Teetwal in North Kashmir district of Kupwara where it is to be installed in newly constructed Sahrda yatra temple reached here, today.
It was given a grand welcome at Kunjwani by 300 students from Doon International School, teachers and a large number of women.
The 4000 km yatra has been undertaken by Ravinder Pandita founder of Save Sharda Committee, Kashmir, Surinder Mirza , Ravinder Tikoo from Sringeri Mutt on January 24 with the idol of Mata Sharda.
The welcome ceremony was jointly organized by Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj (VKS) and Global Solace.
Women folk erupted in joy and merriment. They sung bhajans and danced to pay their obeisance to Mata.
A historic movement after centuries will see resurrection of a Sharda temple though not in its original place, which is across the LoC in PoJK.
VKS convener, Kiran Watal paying obeisance to divine Goddess complimented Ravinder Pandita and entire Hindu society for this historic yatra. He said the reconstruction of the temple is a step towards the revival of the ancient annual pilgrimage to the Sharda Peeth.
Pintoo Ji president, Global Solace said, entire KP community is jubilant on this historic yatra and hoped, we’ll soon get to undertake pilgrimage and restore the glorious days of the past.

Later the Murti of Mata Sharda arrived at Kashmiri Pandit Sabha, Ambphalla where it was received by K. K. Khosa president of the Sabha along with its Executive members. The Murti was available from 12 noon to 3 pm for Darshan of the devotees. The large number of devotees thronged the venue for Darshan of Goddess. Devotees raised religious slogans and recited various Vedic mantras, Bhajan Kirtan and showering of flower petals on the deity.
