JAMMU, Mar 22: Sharda University successfully organized the 8th North East Cultural Fest 2025, bringing together students, academicians, and dignitaries to celebrate India’s diverse traditions. The grand event, held on the university campus, served as a vibrant platform for artistic expression, cultural exchange, and regional appreciation.
The festival was graced by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma as the chief guest. Praising the initiative, he remarked that such events help students from different states understand and appreciate the traditions of Northeast India while also allowing students from the region to gain broader exposure.
Lauded Sharda University’s inclusive atmosphere, world-class infrastructure and advanced facilities, Sangma stated, “Sharda University has become like a second home to me. The warmth and hospitality here make every visit memorable.” Sangma also shared his enthusiasm for performing at the university during his next visit.
Prof Rana Pratap Singh, Vice Chancellor of Gautam Buddha University, emphasized the importance of cultural inclusivity and national unity. The festival featured enthralling performances, including the energetic Laho dance from Meghalaya and the graceful Bihu dance from Assam, along with other traditional folk expressions. Over 1,500 students participated, showcasing folk dances, soulful musical performances, and theatrical expressions that highlighted India’s vast cultural spectrum.
Dr Sibaram Khara, Vice Chancellor of Sharda University, underscored the significance of immersive cultural experiences, highlighting interactive workshops, storytelling sessions, and exhibitions that deepened students’ engagement with India’s heritage.
In his closing remarks, Chancellor P K Gupta reaffirmed Sharda University’s dedication to academic excellence and cultural diversity. He also acknowledged the leadership of Rajiv Gupta, Director of Admissions, and Deputy Director Athesham in organizing the festival.
