Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 6: President National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri, has urged the Chief Minister to release the pending installment of 7 per cent DA due from July last in favour of its employees and pensioners on the forthcoming festival season in cash in view of sharp increase of the prices of essential commodities and inflation.
In a statement issued here today Mr Shastri in support of his demand said that the installment of the DA has already been released by the Central Government and Rajasthan Government in favour of their employees and pensioners since long.
Mr Shastri, who was addressing a rally of NMC workers said that in view of increasing prices and inflation, the release of DA installment has become more necessary.
He said since there is already budget provision by the Finance Minister for the year 2012-13 so there should be no hitch for the State Government in releasing this installment. Delay in such matter is also not in the interest of state exchequer, he added.
Shastri also expressed his grave concern over inordinate delay in merger of 50 percent DA into basic pay and pension which forms part of the recommendations of the 4th Pay Commission implemented since January Ist 1986.
He said the Government is duty bound to merger of DA into basic pay/pension and constitute fresh commission on agreed principles.
Pleading the cause of working class particularly the daily wagers Shastri called for their immediate regularization as they have high hopes from the coalition Government headed by Omar Abdullah.
Other demands highlighted by him include pension benefits to the employees of PSUs, regularizing the services motivators working in watershed project at Akhnoor, besides releasing their salaries, release of wages of daily wagers of Social Forestry Project, issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers of RDD and enhancement of wages of daily wagers from Rs 125 to Rs 300 per day.
