Srinagar, Apr 9: The Shawwal moon was sighted this evening and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow.
The grand Mufti of Kashmir, Mufti Nasirul Islam said that enough evidence was received from various parts of J&K about sighting of the crescent.
He said that the consultative committee headed by him with members Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Moulana Rehmatullah Qasimi, Moulana Abdul Lateef Alqandi, Ghulam Rasool Hami and Ulemas from Jammu and Chenab Valley have concluded that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed tomorrow.
The Meteorological department in the region had already hinted that the Shawwal moon will be sighted today.

The Shawwal moon has not been sighted in New Delhi and other parts of the country excluding Kerala. So, in other parts of the country Eid will be celebrated on Thursday. Moon has not been sighted in Bangladesh as well where Eid will be on Thursday.
The rest of the world including Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid tomorrow.
