Sheetal Nanda visits Ahata-e-Waqar Chanapora; assures full support for senior citizens

SRINAGAR, Aug 7: Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare, Sheetal Nanda today paid a visit to Ahata-e-Waqar – a day care and recreation center for senior citizens at Chanapora here and took stock of facilities available to the senior citizens.
Chairman of the Ahata-e-Waqar, Ab. Gani Parray briefed the Commissioner Secretary about the objective of the center.
Commissioner Secretary was told that the senior citizens of the area gather at the center to share their experiences and also enjoy recreational and library facilities available there.  Regular health check up facilities are also available to the senior citizens at the center.
The Health Department has posted a senior physiotherapist and Geriatric doctor at the center for conducting health checkups to the needy patient on regular basis. The senior citizens are also provided legal support, in case of need, by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).
On the occasion, several senior citizens requested the Commissioner Secretary  to provide logistic support to Ahata-e-Waqar for convenience of the senior citizens.
Sheetal Nanda assured full support of the Social Welfare Department and on the spot approved maximum demands put forth by the senior citizens.
Later, Commissioner Secretary took a round of various sections of the Ahata-e-Waqar and assessed the quantum of support needed to the center for convenience of senior citizens.
Secretary District Legal Services Authority, former Director Doordarshan Srinagar Shabir Mujahid, former Director Sericulture Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Mushtaq Ahmad Ex Information Officer and Javed Ahmad Baigh also attended the event.
