NEW DELHI, Feb 3: Noted broadcaster, Fayyaz Sheheryar has taken over the charge of Director General, All India Radio (AIR).
The orders of Mr Sheheryar’s elevation to the coveted post have been issued by Prasar Bharati Secretariat after his name was okayed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Mr Sheheryar has the distinction of being the youngest and the only officer from Jammu and Kashmir having reached to such a height to head the world’s largest broadcasting network.
An officer of Indian Broadcasting (Programme) Service, Mr Sheheryar has served people of India in diverse ethno-linguistic zones through Akashvani and Doordarshan since 1981 in various capacities.
