POONCH, Nov 26: Member Legislative Council (MLC), Dr Shehnaz Ganai, today inaugurated newly constructed additional building of Model Higher Secondary School at Sawjian in Tehsil Mandi.
This additional accommodation consists of six class rooms, one Computer Lab, ICT enabled Smart Classes with internet facility and one examination hall.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Ganai said that education is key to building nation and the prime focus of the Government should be to invest on Education sector. “Education is our passport to the future. Tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today,” she said.
The Model Higher Secondary School was adopted by the MLC two years back and now after completion of the upgradation work. This Govt School caters to the students of six Panchayats of Sawjian.
She further said that a nation that is rich in education is a very strong and solid. We need to be well educated with the correct tools to enable us to make correct decisions regarding our health, wealth and education. A poorly educated country has many problems. The MLC said that Poonch is the most neglected district and our villages lack basic infrastructure. Being the far flung area, she said that her focus has mainly remained on education, health, power, water supply, roads which concerns the basic needs of the people the area.
The MLC claimed that over the years she has provided nearly 20 ambulances in Mandi and Poonch, to meet the basic requirement of the public out of her CDF, and as demanded by the public she announced one water cooler and one more Ambulance for Sawjian, out of her CDF.
She said being border area, the Army in the area has played a key role in helping the people, and she thanked Commanding Officer 40 R/R Ravi Chauhan for undertaking various people friendly initiatives in the area.
Chief Education Officer, Principal, Staff of the HSS and several Sarpanchs were also present on the occasion.
