Shekhar’s short film ‘Anmol’ wins Best Story Award

JAMMU, Jan 23: Filmmaker Indu Shekhar and aspiring actor Rohan Kapoor from Jammu brought laurels to J&K UT by winning ‘Best Story Award’ at Chambal International Film Festival-2022, held at Kota in Rajasthan.
His two short films ‘Anmol’ and “Hairath’ were officially selected at Chambal International Film Festival where Anmol won best story award.
The event was scheduled between January 20 to 21, where 903 filmmakers from 71 countries participated. His (Indu Shekhar) short film “Hairath” also won 2nd prize at Dil Maange More Film Festival, organized by Northern Command, Indian Army.
Anmol is a story of an ambitious, hard working, dedicated guy who leaves everything behind in order to fulfil his dreams but later realizes that he left all his relations and becomes alone, while the theme of short film ‘Hairath’ is religious harmony and the story is based on a traveller whose traumatic childhood experience encourages him to visit his village to overcome fear.
Shekhar has completed his Bachelor’s in Journalism and Mass Communication from Chandigarh University and Master’s in Journalism and Mass Communication from Central University, Jammu.
He has made seven independent short films till date. His portfolio profile was shortlisted for “75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow” programme held at 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa organised on behalf of the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India in 2021.
“Out of 1000 applications received across India only 75 candidates got selected by jury members including eminent personalities from Bollywood such as Prasoon Joshi, Shankar Mahadevan, Ketan Mehta, Manoj Bajpayee and Resul Pookuty.”
He has also attended workshops of cinematography organised by Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune in 2018.
