Shepherd held for friend’s murder

RAJOURI, Feb 23: A 15-year-old shepherd has been arrested by Kandi police for the brutal murder of his minor friend merely for  green leaves (fodder) for goats, at Larkutti village  in Kandi-Budhal area here today.
SSP Rajouri, Dr Haseeb Mughal said that police lifted three suspects yesterday on basis of some clues and placed them under sustained interrogation. They also included 15-year-old Imtiaz Ahmed, son of Wali Mohd, residing in the same village. Imtiaz and the deceased boy Mohd Maroof used to graze their cattle jointly in the nearby forests and fields at the village.
On Saturday, during grazing they both had scuffle over minor issue of  fodder (green leaves). While one of them was felling green leaves for his goats and sheep, cattle of other also started consuming the leaves with other herds. On this they both had heated exchanges followed by bloody scuffle. Amidst abuses, both of them took out axes and started attack on each other. Maroof was attacked on neck by Imtiaz and he fell down. He also attacked his arm and one leg and killed him on the spot.
As  Imtiaz was frightened after the murder,  he dragged Maroof’s  body to the nearby buses and threw some leaves over it. He also hid his axe under the stones in the same area and returned home in the afternoon. Mohd Iqbal, father of  the deceased boy became suspicious after listening changing versions of his friend Imtiaz after he inquired from him about the whereabouts of his son.
The police party led by SHO Kandi Mohd Bashir (SI) under the supervision of ASP Tejinder Singh  managed to break the accused and solve the case with in 24 hours. The police party also recovered the weapon of offence- axe at the instance of the accused. He was sent behind the bars and a case FIR No. 18/2015, under section 302 RPC has been registered against him.
