Shia Federation appeals for peace, communal harmony

JAMMU, July 26: A meeting of Shia Federation, Jammu province, was held here under the chairmanship of Sheikh Sajjad Hussain Poonchi, senior vice president, expressed great concern over present turmoil and violence in Kashmir valley.
Great concern was also shown on the ongoing Amarnath Yatra which has been hampered due to sudden rise in violence which gripped the whole Valley on boil. Sajjad Poonchi thanked the administration of Jammu Division for handling the situation in time by calling the meeting of the civil society and prominent  citizens of Jammu to prevent any sort of law and order problem and to provide every sort of help to the stranded pilgrims who were held up at various places at Jammu as well as on National Highway leading to Kashmir valley.
Mention may be made that Jammu being a” Gate way of  Kashmir” has to play a vital role in order to maintain communal harmony, tranquility and integration to make smooth functioning of ongoing Amarnath yatra or to pay homage to any other holy shrine of State. He requested to  Government of India to address the diplomatic track under the confidence building measures by implementing the road map on the principles of Jamhooriyat, Insaaniyat and Kashmiriyat given by the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former President of Pakistan Parvez Musharaff in the year 2002.
