SRINAGAR, June 11: In a major jolt to the Hurriyat Conference (M) led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior Shia leader and head of Anjuman-e-Shari Shian, Agha Syed Hassan, quit the amalgam citing lack of strategy on part of the amalgam as the reason.
Agha wrote a letter to Mirwaiz informing him about his decision to quit the amalgam. In the letter he states: “The need of the hour is to adopt a prolonged strategy so that Kashmir’s resistance movement could be taken to its logical conclusion.”
He has said due to non- serious approach adopted by the amalgam in the past, the opponents got a chance to point fingers and castigate the forum that claims to the representative of peoples’ aspirations. “Due to the mistakes committed by Hurriyat (M) itself, several leaders quit the amalgam,” wrote Agha.
As was reported earlier by the Excelsior, Aga is joining hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
A spokesman of Hurriyat Conference expressed surprise and dismay over “lack of strategy in the conglomerate “cited as a reason by Agha for quitting the amalgam.
The spokesman wondered that does Agha Syed Hassan think that people are so naive as to believe that someone who has been an important and active member of the organization for the past more than 20 years and has been a part of its decision making body the executive council, suddenly discovers “lack of strategy” in the organization.
“People know that there is definitely more to it than meets the eye and citing this reason helps him look good among people and shifts the blame from him to others”, the spokesman added.
