Shias protest against publication of Prophet Mohammad’s caricature

JAMMU, Jan 21:  Shia Muslim Organizations of Jammu today held a massive protest demonstration near Press Club here against recent publication of caricature of Prophet Mohammad in a French magazine Charlie Hebdo and the telecasting of the same by different channels in India also.
Shouting slogans, they described this act as worst and shameful for showing disrespect to such a holy personality.
Prof Sujat Khan, Secretary Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu, while addressing,  said that without having the knowledge of any religion we should not screen or publish this kind of disrespect to any religion especially Islam a religion of truth and peace. He added that in India there are people belonging to different folks and beliefs and it really hurts when we target a religion without knowing about the facts of that religion. “It is our submission to the Press Council of India that a check should be made on this kind of channels who try to disturb the religious faith of any religion,” he said and also warned action against such channels  if such disrespect is shown in near future.
Member of ALMSAJ said that Prophet Mohammad is such a holy personality who is not only respected by Muslims but every human being respects his teachings and his holiness.  “European countries in todays era are trying their hard to defame the Islamic value among the world but at the same time it was not expected by the Indian channels to follow them,” he said and demanded  that such  kind of channels should  be banned and their licenses  be cancelled.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included Sarwar Khan (president Anjuman-e-Hussaini Bathindi) and Ejaz Zaidi (general secretary of Anjuman-e-Hussaini Bathindi).
The organizations, which participated in the protest, included All Ladakh Students Association, Anjuman-e-Haidery, Anjuman-e-Hussaini Bathindi, Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu.
