SRINAGAR, June 27: Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly Nazir Ahmad Gurezi today directed the Government to remove an IAS officer after his name figured in an alleged suicide bid by another IAS officer two weeks ago.
The issue was raised by PDP MLA from Chadoora Javaid Mustafa Mir, who said acts of few bad officers were unnecessarily bringing disrepute to the entire bureaucracy. “In one case, justice has been done. What about the other who heads the department under which we all study? “, Mir asked. He also asked Government to inform the Assembly whether police have registered an FIR in this case or not.
Gurezi directed the Government to shift the (other) officer immediately. “The department, he heads has 50 per cent of women employees. Transfer the officer and allot him an insensitive (sic) post”, he directed.
An IAS officer made an abortive suicide bid minutes after another IAS officer had visited her official residence on June 17. The IAS officer tried to commit suicide and was immediately removed to hospital where she was treated for her wounds.  She was among six officers transferred by State Cabinet yesterday.
