Shifting of dispensary triggers protest

JAMMU, Jan 14: Members of J&K Civil Society Old Janipur here today staged a protest demonstration under the leadership of Kulwant Singh Sambyal.
The protest was joined by a large number of people from areas Old Janipur, Lakar Mandi, Indira Colony, Paloura, Sarwal, Vikas Nagar, New Plot, Taly Morh, Shant Nagar, Hari Nagar, Ram Vihar, Indira Vihar, Pandoka Colony and Doordarshan Lane.
The protesters raised slogans against the Health Department.
They demanded that the (UPHC) Dispensary should not be shifted from its present location in Mohalla Ram Vihar as it has been there for the last 18 years and is proving beneficial to all the people of lower segment of the society due to its free-of-cost services.
“We strongly condemn the Health Department for shifting the dispensary, as its present location is very good and there is even open space available,” a protester said.
The protesters urged the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and top Health Officers to intervene.
