Shinde to conduct aerial survey of tense IB

JAMMU, Oct 21: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde would conduct aerial survey of the tense International Border along Tarnah, Ujh and Basantar Nullahs falling in Samba and Kathua districts during his one day visit tomorrow.
Official sources told the Excelsior that Mr Shinde soon after his arrival here would undertake aerial survey of Tarnah, Ujh and Basantar Nullahs, which were once traditional infiltration routes of the militants falling along the International Border. He would assess the situation on the IB with senior BSF officers during aerial recee.
Later, he would land at Samba and visit Mehsar Army camp, where three fidayeens had carried out an attack on September 26 killing four Army soldiers including Second-in-Command of the Unit Lt Col Bikramjeet Singh before being eliminated by the troops. He would inter-act with the Army officers and get details of the operation and Army preparedness to deal with such attacks.
He would then visit Hiranagar police station, where the fidayeens had strike first on September 26 killing four police personnel and two civilians. Senior police officers including DGP Ashok Prasad and IGP Jammu Rajesh Kumar would brief the Home Minister.
Mr Shinde would fly back to Jammu and chair Unified Headquarters meeting in the afternoon to review situation in the State especially escalated tensions on the International Border.
He would return to New Delhi late in the afternoon.
