In a press briefing, Dr Vaid said that the PRP Therapy is a process by which the patient’s blood is concentrated and thereafter used to speed-up the healing of chronic tissue injuries, including tendinitis, sprains, and a few milder forms of arthritis, hair restoration, face rejuvenation, etc. He said that Platelets (also called Thrombocytes) are one among the three types of cells in the human bloodstream. Others are red blood corpuscles (erythrocytes) and white blood cells (leucocytes). RBCs carry oxygen and CO2, while WBCs combat infections; and platelets enable clotting and promote healing of injured body tissues, he added.
Dr Vaid said that platelets are the cells that make it possible to stop the bleeding during cuts and injuries, and allow the body to heal the wounds.
“PRP therapy is a relatively simple process that can be performed within two hours as it does not require hospitalization.
