SHIRDI, Aug 1:
Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) has announced changes in the timing of Shri Saibaba’s aaratis with effect from today, in view of the heavy rush of pilgrims during the ongoing Kumbh Mela.
Shri Saibaba’s ‘shejarati’ (last aarati) which earlier took place at 10.30 PM will now be held at 11.30 PM, while the morning ‘kakad’ aarati will be held at 3.00 AM instead of 4.30 AM.
This decision was taken by SSST’s three-member committee today, Rajendra Jadhav, the trust’s executive officer said.
“The changes were effected from today for at least two months, considering the heavy rush of pilgrims during the ongoing Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela, so that the main temple of Shri Saibaba will be open for 20 hours in a day,” Jadhav said, adding that the SSST will accordingly inform the devotees, who have made online booking for these two aaratis, through SMS.
However, many local people have opposed the move.
Rajendra Kote, a councilor of the Shirdi Municipal Council, said, “Changes made in the timing of Shri Saibaba’s aaratis are wrong as per the tradition. SSST could make some other arrangement for the devotees instead of the changes.”
Considering the opposition by the locals, the trust might rethink on the decision, Jadhav said. (PTI)
