Shiv Khori shrine witnessing heavy rush of devotees

REASI, May 11:  The revered Shiv Khori shrine, in district Reasi, is witnessing heavy rush of devotees from various parts of the State and country.
Over 5,31,580 lakh pilgrims have visited the shrine this year upto  10 May 2016 while during the same period last year the number was 2,73,077 lakh  informed Ravinder Kumar-Deputy Commissioner Reasi, who is also the Vice Chairman of Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board (SSKSB). At present 4000 pilgrims are reaching Shiv Khori daily for darshan of Lord Shiva and the influx is expected to increase during Shri Amarnath ji Yatra.
“Massive infrastructure development programmes are being undertaken by the administration and SSKSB besides promoting the circuit through publishing of new tourist literature to generate awareness among the pilgrims”, added DC Reasi. He further added that the board is working in close coordination with tour operators both within and outside the State to create packages for Shiv Khori Shrine.
DC said that  number of developmental projects have been taken in hand, adequate provision of drinking water and power supply are being made besides development of Ransoo, which is the base camp of Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Cave and its vicinities.
DC informed that the construction of helipad and allied infrastructure along with approach road is almost complete and the helicopter service is likely to start soon, which will further boost the inflow of pilgrims.
Later a meeting of publicity committee of SSKSB was held under the chairmanship of Mahesh Sharma- Executive Officer SSKSB. During the meeting, various points regarding publicity, and advertisement to attract pilgrims were discussed in detail.
